DS3 is getting bigger but instead of loosing weight, I seem to be getting bigger with him .

When did you start to loose blubber?

Well, it's taken a year, but I'm now down to below my pre-pg weight .

foxinsocks · 10/12/2006 21:59

ooh about 2 years after my last child to get back to weight I was pre-kids

shape had changed though and my waist/hips are noticeably bigger (even though weight is much of a muchness)

VeniVidiVickiQV · 10/12/2006 22:00

erm....2 weeks.......

mind you - i gained fluid rather than fat....I peed for england for weeks after both births.
With DD i was actually half a stone lighter than my pre pg weight about 4 weeks after birth.

yomellamoHelly · 10/12/2006 22:06

9 months despite going to the gym 3/4 times a week!

CliffRichardSucksEggsinHell · 10/12/2006 22:08

Please, can I just say, it's "lose", "loose" refers to something that is baggy, or "loose change", "lose" is something you have lost. One 'o'.

I'll bugger off now, sorry, just had to get that off my chest.

lupo · 10/12/2006 22:10

eighteen months of hard graft to get back to pre preg weight

themoon66 · 10/12/2006 22:35

Six months, but only coz I had to get into my old work clothes and could not afford new ones. Skintness concentrates the mind.

worcestercaroline · 10/12/2006 22:36

8 and a bit months and still working on it

bctmum · 10/12/2006 22:37

bf saved me! - gained loads in preg but lost it by bf. Bigger than before though - think being preg increased me!

Quootiepie · 10/12/2006 22:37

Ill let you know

CliffRichardSucksEggsinHell · 10/12/2006 22:37

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

worcestercaroline · 10/12/2006 22:58

bf made me eat more !! cant say it has helped me lose anything just gain bigger boobs

MrsTittleMouse · 10/12/2006 23:13

Oh dear, this is very much on my mind. Got out the old pre-pregnancy clothes today (DD is 8 weeks) and even though I hit my pre-pregnancy weight 2 weeks ago, nothing fits.
I was alway an hour-glass though, my flat stomach and small waist were the only things off-setting the big boobs and hips. Now the boobs are an H cup and not squeezing into anything remotely fitted, and the tummy is flabby and bulging over the trouser tops. I think I've lost muscle tone to be honest, so I'm the same weight, but bigger, if you see what I mean.
Think I'll have to wait until DD is sleeping in the nights before I'll have the time or energy to sort things out.

DetentionGrrrl · 11/12/2006 09:43

i'm 5lbs over pre-baby weight...lost stone and half over 22wks, mostly via b/feeding.

mawbroon · 11/12/2006 10:07

Gained 20kgs in total. DS is now 13 months and I am now 3kg or so below my pre pg weight. I haven't dieted, in fact quite the opposite as bf seems to make me starving all the time. I lost a little bit extra when he started solids, then a little bit more when I stopped night feeds, then more still when I started childminding. I think losing when I started childminding was for two reasons: firstly I stopped feeding ds so much through the day, and secondly, all that playing football with my mindees and walking to and from the school/nursery etc several times a day is great exercise without even trying!

hotmulledwinemama · 11/12/2006 10:20

DD2 is now 10 months and I'm back to my pre-pregnancy weight. With dd1 I was 7lbs below pre-pregnancy weight after 7 months - and then got pregnant with dd2!

I could do with losing about 2 stone - so am working on this - esp as I go back to work in Jan and only some of my work stuff fits (all pre-pregnancies) I am a lot more hippy now IYKWIM!

I'm still bf dd2, and had hoped that the weight would fall off and I would go back to work as a skinny minnie - not happened. In fact, I reckon I'm losing weight now because I'm more determined and therefore not scoffing for England but also because dd2 is having fewer feeds.

If someone somes along with a magic answer - I'll be all ears!

loopylopey · 13/12/2006 21:57

I was on my way to losing weight, but when i stopped breastfeeding it piled on around my stomach. Have become so used to eating like I'm breastfeeding that i probably never will lose it. oh well.

Rochwen · 13/12/2006 22:11

I had a dreaful pregnancy and lost a stone (yes lost) of weight during pregnancy. I put it all back on whilst breastfeeding and I think that it is a myth that you loose weight whilst breastfeeding. I was so hungry and thirsty when I was producing milk I ate like a pig. It was only when I stopped feeding that my appetite started to regulate.

I'd say give it a year before you start worrying about your weight.

macneil · 14/12/2006 20:03

I was astonished to discover I lost only baby weight (less than 6 pounds) + 3 more pounds by giving birth! I'd gained 35, and thought half would go straight away with fluids, etc. But, my waist came back within about a week. I'm now exactly the shape I was, but 18 pounds heavier - the weight carried on falling off at about a pound a day despite me not breastfeeding or expressing very much milk: I think from bleeding etc. I don't expect it to keep falling off, but it is nice to know that I'm sort of the shape I am, and pregnancy hasn't affected the overall shape. I don't look like I recently gave birth, just like a slightly chubby girl.

frenchleave · 14/12/2006 20:42

About 2.5 months, but bf does it for me every time! This time (3rd baby) DS is sucking me dry and I'm eating like a horse to keep up with him. Probably look like one too as all the fat has gone from my face

Pinkchampagne · 14/12/2006 20:53

It took around 3 months both times.

Pinkchampagne · 14/12/2006 20:54

I bottle fed my DS's

bramblina · 14/12/2006 21:01

4 Months, breast feeding does more than feed a baby IMO! I ended up losing a little more too, all the while eating whatever I wanted! However forgot to stop that along with stoping the bfing, have slight bulge around my middle now...still disguiseable though!

Azure · 14/12/2006 21:03

Still not back to my pre-first pregnancy weight (DS1 is now 5)! It is taking a loooong time to get back to my pre-second pregnancy weight (DS2 16 months). I am reassured by the fact that someone I know who is married to a bit of a heat-throb actor said it took her 18 months to completely loose the weight - at the time (when DS2 was about 4 months) I was horrified - now I'll be glad to say the same.

morningpaper · 14/12/2006 21:05

about 12-18 months post-baby both times
