for nearly a week now my DS has been off his milk. he has gone from draining his 7oz bottles to only taking a couple of oz at each feed and absolutely refusing to take any more. he is not feeding any more frequently and his moods are fine in between feeds. he did have a cold this week, but the trouble with feeding started long before that and continues now he's better. obviously am getting concerned for his nutritional intake and hydration. he's gone from taking 30+ oz/day to sometimes as little as 20. he is on fastest flow teats. he is 5.5 months but not on solids yet. any advice?

maybe now is the time to consider trying him with first taste of solids? something to get him interested again, although if he was thirsty of hungry I'm sure he would let you know

thanks heidle - I wondered about solids but am worried that he will go off milk even more if he fills up on those?

am just confused as to why he seems to get hungry as usual but then refuses to have more than a couple of oz. he does sometimes chomp on the teat instead so he might be teething -would this put him off milk?

if he's teething he might be wanting something cold on his wee gums - have you tried cold milk or water?
advice seems to have changed -with my first 2 it was weaning at 4 months, but now 3rd is on way I hear we're supposed to wait until 6 months....
Just listen to your child I think, you can tell from the reaction what's working.
good luck!
