Weaning an BF an 8 month old - frustrated?

Hi,

DD is 8 months and weaned on to 3 meals a day. By the time DS was this age I was FF.

I really want to BF DD until at least 1 but she is becoming very fussy at feed time.

She currently has a BF when she wakes (6:30-7)
Porridge and fruit (8-8:30)
Sometimes a BF on waking from morning nap (10:30-11)
Lunch (12:30 ish)
BF on waking from nap (between 15:00 and 16:00)
Dinner (17:30-18:00)
BF before bed (19:00)
Normally one feed in the night, this week it has been a couple.

She seems frustrated waiting for the let down and will bob on and off. During the day, especially if out, she won't feed at all.

My boobs have always felt full and ready to feed her but are now feeling very empty.

Any advice?

I am not adverse to introducing formula but it is a faff I could do without Grin

I dont have any advice but this sounds similar to my 7mo (except for the fact that my ds feds a lot in the night Envy )

He has no patience to bf in the day unless he's upset or sleepy and if we're out, forget it!

My boobs have felt empty for a while now. I wouldn't say this is something to worry about because I don't think you'll stop producing milk when you've fed successfully gor 8 months. More likely that your breasts are just in tune with the feefing schedule.

Thanks Sheldon. Your son sounds identical to DS! That was the reason I stopped BFing him at 7 months. He was too nosey during the day to feed so made up for it by eating all night long. So I night weaned him and gave him formula during the day (I could follow his head movements around with a bottle)!! I found the FF hard work though as I felt like I was constantly making food, feeding food, cleaning food, making milk, feeding milk, cleaning milk. It was a real 'meh' time for me, hence trying to persevere this time!
