Had you stopped bleeding entirely following delivery?

DingdongMegaLegsonhigh · 24/11/2006 19:33

Mine usually started when the babies were about 7 months. It might be that you've overdone it a little and the placenta site in your uterus might be bleeding a little. This happened to me a couple of times, it's not usually serious just a case of taking it easy.

Some women do get their periods back quite quickly, despite breastfeeding exclusively, and doing lots of night feeds.

LIZS · 24/11/2006 19:35

Mine came back by 6 weeks both times , even though exclusively b'feeding. Had another around 8/9 weeks then at 5 months.

With all 4 of mine my periods came back regularly 4 weeks from birth and all were BF.

Mine came back after 8 months but I was still breastfeeding on demand day & night.

Could this be a bit more bleeding from the delivery? I took about 6 weeks to stop bleeding properly after I gave birth.

I came back on when DS was 7 months (just the other week ) Ive heard people coming on much earlier.

Oh thanks ladies feel a little more reassured now.I have not overdone it today but i dont do night feeds as baby has slept from midnight to 7ish since she was a wk old,she does feed all evening though.
I had stopped bleeding about 10 days ago, just some discharge up to today(tmi, sorry)
I was really hoping not to have periods for about 6 months

I still don't have mine back and DB4 is now 8 1/2 months. I think that the earliest I have seen mine back was 13 months with DB1. I did however bleed heavily after DB2 at 6 weeks. I thought that it was the result of over-doing it though.

I hope that this is a one-off for you as well.

NotQuiteCockney · 24/11/2006 20:00

If you're not feeding at night, you may well get your periods back sooner than you would otherwise. Mine always came back just after I stopped night feeds.

I think everyone is likely to be very at you about your baby sleeping through, so you won't get much sympathy for the early period return.

yes, it is and be careful I have living proof in that there is only an eleven month gap between dd2 and ds1 because I thought it would be ok as I was exclusively breastfeeding. obviously I wound't change him for the world, but it was a bit of a shock at the time.
