Is Electric breast pump better than manual ?

With my 1st baby , i used an advent isis breast pump to express , but found it can be tiring after a while , now I am expecting my 2nd baby , I am wondering whether going electric to express is easier ? - I have no idea what an electric one does for you - does it pump automatically for you as you hold it or what ?
hmm? any advice is greatly appreciated !

cocobabe- i have been using the avent isis electric pump and it is no hassle - you pump a little bit by hand then it 'rememebrs' the rhythm and carries on for you while you just hold it there. it comes with a manual pump as well but i found that tiring.
good luck.

I could never get anything out with a manual but found it easy with an electric, I do know people who had no issues though so I expect it depends on the individual.

I've got the Medela Swing and would say it's the best £80 pounds I've ever spent! I definately wouldn't have carried on expressing with a manual pump and every evening after DS has gone to bed, I sit down for a little expressing session. It's very easy to use and put together.
(I did still use my manual pump in the early days to releive engorgement to get DS latched on IYSWIM).
I got it from a website called expressyourselfmums.co.uk and I think it was a bit cheaper there than in the shops. They were very quick with delivery too.

I've never used the avent electric but I've used most other models on the market (I had to test them once for a baby magazine). I'd imagine the avent electric is quite marvellous - the Medela, IMO, doesn't have nearly as good a latch onto the breast and can become quite uncomfortable.

The Ameda double-pump costs a bit but is fabulous.
