Baby suddenly no longer wakes for night feed.... Engorged!!!

My 6mo baby has woken for one night feed for several months. Then, last week was waking crying every 2 hours for a 5 days and I fed her to comfort her back to sleep. Now, suddenly, for the last 2 days she hadn't woken at all and has slept for over 12 hours!

Obviously I'm complaining, and I'm aware these things are usually a one-off, but what is the name at way to deal with the painful engorgement?

Today I woke up a 2am with boobs like watermelons. By 4.30 I caved in and fed my baby in her sleep.

I can't hand express (I've tried and nothing happens!) and frankly can't be arsed with the pump, although I guess it might be useful to store some milk now she's older...

Basically, my question is: if my baby continues to no longer want a night feed (which my HV has said should happen around now anyway) is it ok toet my breasts get very engorged? Will they eventually sort themselves out like they did in the early days? Or will it effect my supply in the day?

Thank you x

Give it a couple of nights.

Little bit of pumping. Don't sterilise and dump if you are lazy (like me).

They will sort them selves out but if it's v painfulsnd full you need to avoid mastitis by expressing a little for a few nights just to take the edge of the pain.
