DS is six months old, and is being BF once per day, the rest of the time he has formula, and is starting on solids. I am surprised I still havent had any periods. I have had occassional spotting over the past month but nothing more. Is this normal?

With ds they came back before I'd stopped completely but with dd they didn't come back until after stopping completely. Everyone's different.

How long did it take after stopping completely ?
I am also feeling pretty emotional lately and am wondering if its do with periods stopping and starting.?

With DD they came back after stopping completely, even though she was on mainly bottles for a few months.

With DS they came back at 5 months after I started weaning him but still bf - no bottles!

To be honest I can't remember, a few weeks I think.

Mine didn't return till ds 10m then preg again at 11m dd is 6m and introducing solids now so I am not looking forward to mine coming back after only having 1 in the last 33months!!! So I am relaxed they can take their time - not tempted to get pregnant again though

within about a week.

I stopped bf at 3 weeks and 8 weeks with my dcs and didn't have a period until they were about 17/18 weeks old. Didn't mind though!!

I wouldnt mind if I wasnt feeling so emotional all the time. Dont know if its PND or just PMT (as such)

sorry to hear that cori - could be that you are just suffering from lack of sleep and too much to do - being a mum etc. but pmt is a possibility and if you are concerned about pnd speak to HV (if they are sympathetic) I know that I go batty for a week when I am having period so my dh is not looking forward to their return either...

I posted earlier about this, I am breast feeding my 6 week DD with 1 expressed bottle giving by my husbsnd at 12 midnight. Got my period last night. Was bit shocked and disppointed, hadn't expected that at all. Think it's the not feeding her between 10pm and 3am thats done it, though reading other posts seems everybody different. Just shows you there's no text book case.

Not really suffering from lack of sleep. DH is good at doing night feeds. I do find there is a lot to do, and feel I cant get it all done. Tend to get teary over silly things. Like rude shop assistant in Homebase today. I have been taking St johns wort for about 2 weeks, not felt any affects though.
