Breastfeeding and contraception - cerrazette

Hi there

I have had my 6 week check today and been given cerrazette pill to start as form of contraception - on reading up in this lots of people have said how it made them depressed, moody and hindered milk supply - however this is just on a google search and from some years ago. I wondered whether anyone recently had been put on this and could share experiences. I don't want it to effect my dd. x

I'm not breast feeding but I was very recently put on this but came off after a few weeks due to mood swings. I am very sensitive to hormones though. Think it differs so much depending on the person. Good luck!

Hi! I take this pill, DS is now 5.5 months and I think I went back on it when he was 3 months. I'm BF and definitely haven't noticed any supply issues. I do occasionally have mood swings but I couldn't honestly say that was down to the pill. I'm still feeding about twice in the night and I can get very tearful if I'm suffering lack of sleep but I was like that before starting the pill again.
I attend a BF support group and I know a few other ladies taking this pill without any problems, obviously though everyone is different.

It's a progesterone only pill and doesn't reduce supply.

Some women do notice a lowering in mood with many hormonal preparations including the POP but it's not automatic.

I've been taking this for about 9 years, including 2 years of breastfeeding. No problems with supply, mood swings, weight gain. Biggest benefit from my POV is the lack of periods. Obviously everyone is different, but it's worked well for me.

I was put on it as I'm bf. I suffer with acne and this has helped to clear it. I don't notice any mood swings but u might have 2 ask my partner that one! It works ok for me, and no periods
