NIGHT TIME FEEDERS/OLDER BABIES: Do you need to change nappy in the night?

If your baby feeds on and off all night, do you need to change his/her nappy?

Mine is really wet by the time I go to bed so I change her, but this makes her wake up a lot... But I hate the thought of her lying in a soaking nappy for hours.

What do you do?

no i leave it she feeds twice in the night.

i only change if its pooey.

I leave it too... in cloth - very very well boostered.

i do - i change it before i go to bed
i have doen with both mine - althgouh ds1 never fed in the night after 5 months
ds2 wees for england in the evening
he doesnt wake up though so its fine for us

mine never pooed in the night either from about 4 weeks old

I stopped changing my son's nappy after every night feed when he was about 4 months. We would then only change his nappy at night if it leaked, but we put a clean one on just before we put him down. Tbh his nappy did leak most nights until he was about 8 months, but I found that changing it when he had woken because it had leaked meant he settled straight back to sleep, whereas if I fed him and then changed him, he was wide awake for a while. Obviously leaky nappies result in more washing, but I actually found it easier that way, and on the occassions when the nappy didn't leak we would nearly get a full nights sleep. We tried booster pads for the nappies but didn't really find they made a difference, but I think thats because they alter how close fitting you can make the nappy.

I just don't like leaving a soggy nappy, it's a bit yucky

I haven't left it for a while, but the times I have done there has been a lot of leakage

is it actually wet to the touch or just heavy?

My ds feeds at night and we used to change it late evening up to about 1yo. But it started to really upset him when we changed him at that time so we stopped it. Only stopped leaking when we switched from disposables to cloth. He is soaked through by morning but it doesn't seem to bother him.

I only change at night if he's done a pooh.
Last night I put a disposable on and his clothes were wet this morning, even with only one feed in the night, he often feeds more n the night, but hasve never had leaks with cloth.

yes dd'd are very very heavy, but not wet to the touch so it doesn't bother her. the dreadful chemicals in the nappies must be doing their job!

The problem with leaking is that she is usually somewhere under my duvet by 5 a.m. and I really don't want to have to change 5 hundred things if she leaks

Put a towel under her

I'm never quite sure where she is

I try not to wake up too much

Even if I put a towel under ds in our bed he tends to wriggle off it...

my dd id 16wks & i don't change her as I don't want to wake her mmore than necessary at night _ I figure I'd rather she slept but with a full nappy than took ages to resettle but had a clean nappy.

i use thick pampers and lots of cream and don't chge it at all.Doing it since he was approx 11 weeks old and he is fine with it. usually very heavy and pooey in mornings but he sleeps better

sorry got distracted by that, but no longer change dd unless its a dirty nappy or she is awake about 6 am and going to be left to play either in cot or middle of my bed so we can lie in.

I dont change my ds (23m) but he is soaked in the morning even with a double nappy on.

I use pampers but they arent very good.

Any recommendations?

I said DS2 "never poos in the night" the other day.
