Pooing, 3 day old and milk just come

My dd is three days old and my milk has just come in. I was up most of the night with her because she would feed and then need a poo but would cry so much like she was in pain. I know they can appear very distressed over the simplest discomfort but this never happened with my son and it's thrown me.

I've tried googling it and there's not much - just random bits about how they're just learning the reflex to poo and some don't like it, or more worrying talk of there being a huge problem if they appear in pain.

Does anyone have experience of this?

Mine flexed, strained and grumbled at first. Nothing wrong.
Why not ring the midwife and describe it? I did with mine and then I felt much more secure it was "normal" straining.

Now she doesn't even do a face, just the fart noise and a baby poo smell!

Zebra, usually if a three day old is crying, she just wants to be back on the breast. What exactly was happening?

She would start crying, do some farts, cry some more, do a poo and appear very distressed over it but then fine.

She's done two more poos today with no crying so I don't know - maybe she just didn't like what was happening.

Whatever it was, seems nothing to worry about :)
