Baby food blender recommendations?

Hello all!

I am going to be starting to wean my son soon.

There are so many baby food blenders on the market and mixed reviews of them online- it's hard to know what to go for!

I did think of getting a steamer and blender in one but I've read that they can make the purée more like soup as water collects due to the steaming before the blending.

Can anyone recommend a good baby food blender? Or experiences you have of steamer blenders?

I just used a hand blender tbh. depending on age you won't be pureeing for long so no point in spending a fortune

A braun stick blender is all you need and will last for years. No need for anything marketed specifically for babies.

Do people still blend? You don't need to if you don't want to - expensive hassle!

This worked really well for me.

But if purée is the way for you I suggest a slow cooker and a really good quality stick blender.

I used my Kenwood mini chopper that I've had for years, and use all the time anyway.

I use a Philips hand blender I got for about £30 a couple of years ago. i find it works best if I spoon whatever foodstuff I'm going to puree into the little jug/beaker it came with as it creates a sort of vacuum and blends everything better compared to when I use the stick in the pan. If that makes any sense

Don't get a 'baby food blender' - get a decent quality blender with as strong and engine as you can afford.

I have a handheld Bamix hand blender - my youngest is now almost 5 and I still use it every week.

Don't go for a stupid marketing ploy…

If you want to blend, get a stick blender. Lots of people don't bother, and you will be onto mashing a bit really fast

I bought a Tommee Tippee Explora baby blender, I got it for about £14 on Amazon last year and it's been absolutely fine for me - I didn't have any other type of blender and didn't want to spend a fortune as I was unsure how much I'd use it and decided it looked quite cute. I've just seen it's now only a tenner on Amazon. x

I used a standard kitchen blender rather than a specific baby one or the back of a fork for things like banana. Never worried about getting the consistency too smooth as my daughter ate it anyway.

I'd agree totally with stick blender - mine's a Kenwood one, really easy to use (I blend food in a tall Pyrex jug to avoid splattering myself / entire kitchen).

As for steamer, we just use a standard pan steamer which we've always used for veg. Three tiers so can do loads in one go and freeze.

I was given a baby food blender - the Tomee Tippee one. It's pointless, takes up loads of room and only does one portion per go.
