Burning pain periodically in both breasts - what is it?

At times today, about every few hours or so, I've had liek a really sharp burning sensation simultaneously in both breasts. They tender to touch too and I have been having nipple pain (though all cracks and blisters healed now - I've been BF for 3 weeks). When I google burning and breastfeeding it comes back with thrush as a possibility - should I consider this or is this sensation normal?

Thanks in advance!

could it be let down kicking in perhaps?

I wondered about that Piffle - does it only 'kick in' after you've been doing it a few weeks then? And is it normal to hurt - I've always heard let down described as 'tingling'? Perhaps people were just trying not to scare off potential BF recruits!

it is tingling but it can wince a bit, I describe it as a burning (but it does ease off quickly )until you get used to it, the both at once is why I mentioned it - do you get leaky boobs with it?
I only got let down after a few weeks of b/f when supply was established, until then it just ran out me constantly

Do you get pain in the breasts between breastfeeds?

MacdogOnElmStreet · 18/10/2006 23:16

just to echo piffle, i got terrible burning sensation to point where i was in tears. it was 'let down'.
it did ease off after a few weeks, not much comfort to you at moment though.
it does get better

Sounds like it is let down then. I have noticed a bit of leaking which they haaven't done until today. Sorry you've had it painfully too - but as long as it's just a passing phase I can deal with it!

This BF thing isn't easy at all is it?!
