Seen the "cow milk allergy" ad on sky?

Very slick, definitely NOT a charity or NHS.
Says thousands of babies have it and suggests if your baby cries (don't they all) "see your GP". Get the impression they only put that last bit about the GP because they HAVE to.
They say allergy not intolerance . .. which as I understand it is serious and rare.

Never actually say what they're selling though. Private testing? Prescription formula? Snake oil?
Made me feel uncomfortable in the same way as seeing medicine advertising in the USA...

Is it this one?

The website it links to is Mead Johnson's, major formula producers. Their brands - the big one is Enfamil - are not well known in the UK, though Nutrimigen, a specialist formula, is sometimes prescribed for babies.

Makes me think they are going to launch a mainstream brand in the UK.

Cows milk allergy is actually quite difficult to diagnose in a very young baby and the incidence of it varies in studies. The definition of it varies, too.

The video I have linked to has cow&gate branding - not the actual name, but the colours in the ad, and there is a faint image of a cow&gate pack on the windowsill.

Ah that explains it!

Scaring both ff and bf mums with possibly colicky babies ... not on. Sad But as you mentioned on another thread companies have subtle ways of branding and promoting without advertising.

What has this been advertised on British TV? It has a very American feel to it.

squizita · 13/01/2015 16:39

Yeah! Very American!
