The fake boob bottle - started DS on it at 1week, seems to avoid nipple confusion

I first introduced my bf DS to a bottle at 1 week because I bought a bottle which is, basically, a fake boob. It's called an Adiri BreastBottle (check out their website \link{http://adiri.com/here}) He's now 4mo and has just graduated to an Avent style one coz he got fed up with the slow flow of the Fake Boob (he has a bottle every couple of days on average, I used to express but it's such hard work I soon started mixing it with formula, then gave up expressing altogether).
Has anyone else tried one of these? They're amazing....and you can get them on EBay (new!)

something seems to have gone wrong with the link - try again

I think there was a documentary (Channel 4?) on these earlier this year.... am I restarting an old thread?

sorry if this topic's already been done to death, but it worked so well for me that I want to share it with others!

ZamMummy, we tried this and it didn't work for us at all. I had great hopes for it too!

bummer! oh well, just yet another demonstration of how all our babies are different....

I think maybe if I had given it to him on day 1, it might have worked. He was prem and had been given NUK prem teats in SCBU and I gave him avent when we got home, mainly because my breast pump was Avent. But he started refusing bottles at 5 months. I went through a phase of trying every bottle. He used to scream when he saw the Adiri coming! Did you know that you can cut more holes in the nipple of it to increase the flow, btw?

I think a lot depends on the baby - I BF and use EBM roughly about half and half. We use nuk teats and the floppy pink disposible ones - no evidence of confusion at all - he's well aware of where the milk comes from!

Liquidclocks, I agree. My first two boys swapped between breast and bottle and never objected to either. Ds3 is a stubborn little soul though!

Liquidclocks- you mention floppy pink disposable teats, where do you get these and do they come with a bottle and if not what bottle do they fit?
We can't get our 13 week ds to take EBM or formula from any bottle, we have spent a fortune on different types.

cryptmonkey · 19/10/2006 16:44

usandbump, did you try Playtex bottles? The ones with the latex NaturalLatch teat were the ones ds3 took eventually.

Hi crypt

No I hadn't heard of them, have just googled them and will order pronto! Thank you.
