Help - have given up bfeeding cold turkey. Boobs of concrete!

Have stupidly given up breast feeding cold turkey as after cutting a few feeds over a period of weeks it seemed like I'd got no milk left on Wednesday. Woke up with full boobs Thursday morning though but as I'd got over the psychological stress of finishing feeding decided to go with it. Boobs so so painful though, rock hard with shooting pains. Sure I don't have mastitus as have had before and it isn't like that. How long will it take for milk to go? Where does it go?

Assume it gets reabsorbed as when I stopped bfing ds1 and ds2 I had full boobs for 1-2 days but didn't leak! You're not supposed to express as that will encourage milk production but maybe express a little if you're very uncomfortable?

take a couple of nurofen
hand express a tiny bit just to feel comforatb;e
i havent gone cold turky - in fact i am still feeeding

but gave up night feedding cold turkey and he was feeding loads in the night
took 3 days to calm down.
regular nurofen

Good, so perhaps I'll feel better tomorrow. They leaked loads last night but not at all today. Poor things are so distorted, really hurts to pick up ds so dh had to come home early from work to help!

Might try hand expressing in hot shower, that seems to make them feel a bit better. Taking paracetamol which helps a bit.

Take a hot shower and hand express a little while you're in there, until you feel comfortable. Repeat once or twice a day depending on how uncomfortable you are. It'll probably take 5 days to a week or so to settle down (depending on how many feeds you were down to when you quit cold turkey).

Or just start doing one or two feeds a day for a week or two and go back to the original plan of cutting back gradually.

nurofen is better - anti-inflammatory and could stop mastitis if it is brewing
i leake dloads the first night
not the second night
by the third night i was fine

Tempting but I feel like I'm half way there now and don't want to go through it again in a few weeks time. Supposed to be taking him swimming tomorrow, might get mistaken for Jordan if I reveal knockers in swimsuit!

That's good to hear Popsycal. Will send dh out for neurofen.

Savoy cabbage leaves in your bra - sounds mad but it works! Even more soothing if you put them in the fridge. 2-3 days you will be fine
