Does my baby have tummy ache?

My 10 day old baby has been messed about a bit. On day 3 I had to switch to bottles due to bleeding nipples. I did a mixture of EBM and FF for 5 days until the nipples recovered. We're now back to Breast feeding which I'm doing on demand. She is demanding a lot (hourly) but seems to be uncomfortable after every feed. Squirming around, hiccups, drawing up knees and eventually crying/screaming. If I can get her to burp, or if she has a big poo (or this morning she was sick) she settles quite quickly.

Is this normal new born behaviour or could she have a dodgy tummy? Perhaps as a result of all the messing about with bottkes a few days ago?

Im seeing HV tomorrow. But in the mean time, what do you think?

Very young babies (I was told) struggle to burp and fart. Mine had moments like you describe and it got better with time and infacol. She now does big burps and trumps!
The hourly feeds sound normal ... They start off takibg little and often!

My dd struggled to burp or fart until at least 6 weeks old, I used to worry she was in pain, but the hv told me it was normal. Her tummy sometimes looked slightly bloated too. Now at 15 weeks there is no stopping her, so it was just a newborn thing!

Wind, it looks awful and painful but very common. DS used to practically have legs stuck in the air until a big burp or more likely for him, a string of farts. I find Infacol a Godsend, didn't think it was doing much but then I stopped it and he was awful, writhing around the cot and screaming before every fart. It's not harmful but they don't like it one bit.

Thank you. The midwife didn't seem too bothered today. She also said infacol might be good but to wait a week as her tummy might just need to settle from being messed about last week.

In the mean time she recommended massaging her tummy in a clockwise direction to help encourage the bubbles to go down. Or some cooled booked water on a teaspoon.

Tummy massage definitely helps and doing bicycle legs does too. We also used gripe water when dd was old enough but she wasn't a fan!
