St John's wort and breastfeeding

Can you take St John's Wort while breastfeeding ? I have recommended it to a friend as i think it is great but we did not know if it was ok while feeding. Can anybody help? Thanks.

I am not 100% sure , but I doubt it as most medications that are "banned" when you are pregnant are also when b/f. I would check with her dr. I find the health food stores sometimes give dodgy information.IMO HTH

Colette - that's just not correct, sorry. There are many medications which would not be advised when pg but which are ok when bf.
