My dd has 3 or 4 feeds during the day now but she has just refused her bedtime feed and she also did this last night. She has dinner with us solids and water to drink at 17.30. She ate a lot for dinner tonight.

She has started waking up in the night at around 3 am and I feed her to get her to go back to sleep - I think this is normal at this age?

Just not sure if the two are connected and she is just hungrier. Just curious about other people's babies of this age really!

Ds is 8.5 months. Eats a huge amount of solids and bf about 4 times a day plus 2 or 3 thru the night. He is a hungry boy!!!

I would say if she wakes in the night And a feed settles her then she was needing it

Thanks Yes I'm pretty sure she is hungry as she has a proper feed it doesn't seem to just be for comfort and then she goes back down in her cot happily.

I just wonder why as she was sleeping through up until last week, I guess it's a growth spurt or something !

At 8 months DS1 had a morning bf, before nap, around lunch time, before nap, bedtime and a bottle at 11pm.

Just because a feed settles them doesn't mean they "need" it - need it for comfort maybe but not necessarily for nutrition.

My DS is just coming up for 8 months. Solids have been a slow burner but he seems to be eating a bit more now and eats three times a day. We seen to be on 5 feeds now, recently dropped the early morning feed and just feeds when he wakes for the day now.

She may be wanting comfort but she's never really been much of a comfort feeder and the times she has I can tell she isn't really drinking much, I may be wrong of course but to me it does seem like she's hungry. She only has 3 or 4 breastfeeds during the day which seems less than other babies, she does have 3 solid meals a day and a snack. I wonder whether she's suddenly hungrier and has decided 3 am is the best time as it doesn't interrupt her busy day so much! Grin I can't get her to feed much more during the day as she just wriggles away and wants to get down.
