Help! Still Feeding every 2hrs at 17 weeks, day and night!

A bit unsure if this is just a phase, normal, or something anyone can advise me on.

Since I began BF at the start my LO always took from both during a feed.
All was well for the first 13/14 weeks, but for the last couple he fall asleep every time I feed him, day or night, into a really deep sleep. And he is only feeding from1 boob, too asleep to take the 2nd, I've tried.
At first I thought great as he doesn't nap otherwise during the day, but the problem now is that he is waking every 2hrs in the night for a feed the same as every 2hrs during the day so no sign of his night sleep improving and getting longer like I thought it would by now.
Struggling to even consider leaving him with others for long as I'm also struggling to fit in any expressing and only getting about 60ml when I do! ??

Any advice or words of wisdom? As I said He is currently 17 weeks old.

Sounds like he might be having a growth spurt and just needing to feed more at night especially if he keeps falling asleep before finishing a full feed. I can't remember exactly at what age (v Long time ago) but I used to offer both breast and the new breast would wake dc up as milk let down faster made them more alert. I think it is called switch feeding if you want to google. Hope things improve soon.

Sounds like a normal phase to me. You could try breast compressions (google for videos) to get a bit more rich fatty stuff into him by keeping him going a little longer....but mainly keep reminding yourself it's doing him loads of good and that regular feeding is excellent for your supply!

DS did the same thing at this age. I think four months is a really tough sleep wise. They have a lot going in developmentally - it's a killer but by five months he was sleeping much better.
