Bottle recommendation for breastfed baby?

DD is nearly 7 months. She has always been a good sleeper. DH usually puts her to bed with a bottle of expressed milk and I breastfeed for all other feeds. She has started solids in the last month but isn't eating huge amounts. In the last week or so she has started to wake and cry about an hour or so after going to bed. I don't know whether this is because of her age or starting solids or whatever but she always seems uncomfortable and often brings up a bit of wind. We are using the bottle that came with the breast pump (Phillips Avent) and it seems a bit fast flowing, she certainly guzzles down a bottle quickly. I think this may be what's causing the wind. Can anyone recommend a bottle that would make her take her time more? Could the waking/crying be caused by digesting food? Sorry I know nothing about bottles so any advice appreciated!

I recommend Medela, bloody expensive but my baby switches happily between that and breast so may work for you. They're designed so the baby has to work for the milk in the same way as Breastfeeding.

Thank you, that's helpful. I don't really want to spend loads on trying different bottles which is why you asked for suggestions. That sounds like the type we need.

My baby is exclusively bf and we use medela too when we need a bottle. There is a vacuum in the teat which means they have to suck at it to get the milk. It doesn't just free flow. However my DS can still nail through a whole bottle at an astonishing rate. My dh has to impose several breaks mid bottle (to wails of protest) to slow him down a bit and minimise some of the wind.

Yes we find the breaks don't go down very well too! It's weird because she's been having the bottle at bedtime for months but this problem has only started in the last week which is why I also wondered if it could be linked to starting from solids.

NUK with a latex teat.

Thanks, DD seems to have a cold now so think I'll postpone any changes until she's better!

We use mam bottles with silk teat newborn size teats - it also has suction valves. I think that and a newborn size teat are the key things.

Hope she feels better soon!
