nearly 8 month old and breastfeeding

My nearly 8 month old seems to have cut down her breastfeeds to only 3 a day, does this sound enough? She's only on the 9th percentile but HV was happy at last weight check as she's following her curve (she did drop down from 25th percentile a few months ago but again nobody was concerned).

She has a big bowl of porridge for breakfast every day the rest of the day is fairly hit and miss though sometimes she eats lots sometimes she just flings it around. She always drinks some water.

I'm just worrying she isn't eating enough but she is very energetic and sleeps through the night 7pm until about 5 or 6 am so she can't be hungry can she...?

Just need some reassurance I guess!

My 10 month old normally has 2-3 feeds a day and at night and has done for quite a while. She sometimes eats loads and other times just makes a mess. If she's hungry she'll let you know.

Thanks common sense tells me of she's hungry I'd know about it but sometimes I just watch her with her lunch or dinner and think oh you're not eating anything!! But I guess she is eating a little bit...!

I sometimes think she's eaten loads and then when I get her out of the High chair find lots of squished up food that's fallen down and then think she hasn't eaten anything! If I think she's hungry I offer the boob as a top up sometimes but I think that they do eat what they want to. If she's happy, active, poos, wees and sleeps you lucky lucky thing then don't worry.

Sounds just like what my DD did. I make sure she has cheese and yoghurt during the day. She tends to have quite long feeds morning and night, and it feels like she's getting enough. Just make sure you offer water too.

DevilishInfield · 12/10/2014 22:32

Oh she definitely poos!! Thanks I'm exactly the same with the high chair and finding squished food down the sides...

I'll just follow her lead then!

Anything - she has water with every meal and always has at least a few sips sometimes she drinks more. And she always has a big bowl of porridge in he morning and most days a full fat plain yoghurt as well during the day so she has lots of dairy. Just not always much else...!

DS2 is almost 10mo and rarely feeds through the day - only at night (several times mind you, oh how I wish he slept through!) he's a great eater though. The HV has no converns. He's gaining weight and very active - now standing with support and trying to take his first steps. She said he'd soon let me know if he wanted more bf!

I wish my ds would choose to cut down breast feeds! He is about the same age.
