I just started expressing and the milk was really quite red with blood ... dh nearly passed out! I had some problems with latching my ds on a while ago which seem to have gone away but it has left a small crack in the nipple which has taken ages to heal up and from time to time has had a tiny bit (turn away from your screen now if you are squeamish) of pus which I have cleaned away. It hasn't even really hurt recently. I'm assuming (hoping!) the blood must be coming from that.

Apart from wondering what I can do to help heal it (I have been using Lansinoh), could this have affected my 7 wk old ds today? He has always been a bit grumpy but all of today apart from a few naps he has been inconsolable and apparently very refluxy - spitting up after each feed, and his breath smells really sour and acidic. I am planning on taking him to the doc tomorrow to ask about reflux, but does anyone have any thoughts on this? Do I stop feeding him from that breast?

that happened to me once, was horrible. But I figured if i'd been feeding ds i'd have neber known. he seemed ok with it!

Not an issue, 2labs....your blood is similar to milk, anyway, and cannot harm your baby (when he was in utero, all his nourishment came that way, anyway). If he swallows it, it still doesn't matter.

Tiktok's the expert here, but just wanted to add that my breasts bled like that, due to initial problems latching on too. Bit shocking, but dd was fine and it didn't bother her at all. A couple of days of Lansinoh and it cleared up anyway.
