Oversupply of milk?

I'm exclusively expressing my DD (because of a mixture of TT and flat nipples) and have been for the last month). I am pumping over 1100 ml in a day (in a morning pumping session I can express upwards of 320ml). Is this too much milk or is this normal with exclusive expressing. My boobs absolutely kill after about 2 hours after expressing.

Maybe you are overstimulating? How often are you pumping?

Is your baby drinking that whole amount or is there some left over?

If you only express what your baby drinks then you'll recalibrate supply/demand just as if you were feeding directly.

That seems like a lot. How old is your baby? Kellymom has some advice on how much expressed milk to feed. I breastfeed but pump twice a day so DH can give him a nightly bottle. I pump about 4oz at each session and baby is 5 weeks old. The more you pump, the more milk you'll produce so best to just pump what baby will eat.
