tongue tie in a bf baby

Started a few thread to see if there are reasons why ds is so unhappy. He has been on gaviscon for 2 weeks, he seems alot calmer and happier. He is a very windy baby and untill about 3 months had colic (would scream for up to 5 hours at a time most days)
He also has tongue tie, i didnt thing it was a problem as he is gaining weight well (adout 17lb at 5 months).
Could the wind and refux all be due to this? (swollowing a lot of wind, been sick alot, that kind of thing?)

I had a tongue-tied baby, he would feed for 5 hours at a time, I didn't realise that this was due to his tongue tie until I went to a breastfeeding workshop when I was pg with ds2! Anyway, the midwife that took the class said that in her book it says that it can cause latching on problems. I was red raw for months! In the end I relented and gave him a dummy. DS2 does not have a dummy but is still bf at 19 months!!!
My dp is tongue-tied too and he said that he would get his released in a heartbeat, DS1 (the tongue-tied one) had to have his adenoids out and grommets in his ears so we had his snipped at the same time. He is happier now because he can lick ice-cream! Dp said that it didn't bother him until he discovered girls then he was terrified he couldn't kiss right! He does just fine! As for getting it released, some doc's do and some don't. He recovered very quickly, 4 hours after the op we were in Hamleys with him spending a small fortune!

My DD had tongue tie. we had a nightmare breast feeding - I didn't even realise it coudl be anything to do with that - none of the mid wives wanted to admit it ...but I'm convinced that's why she had so many problems latching on. I can truly say it was one of the most awful experiences of my life.

she's 8 now and her tongue and speech are fine!
