Advice on baby who wants to feed all evening?

my dd, now 3 wks, has a recognisable pattern of evening fretting. During her fretful times she wants to breastfeed pretty much constantly. I am demand feeding. Should I therefore allow her to feed all this time or am I just using my breast as a pacifier? (It generally feels easier to feed her than to listen to her cry). Bit confused...

Also found the same thing sallyrosie. is only since i've taken up bottle feeding realised that she feeds smaller feeds all day and then takes a massive feed in the evening which is why she feeds all evening because i didn't have enough milk!

DD2, who cluster fed, also had terrible colic which was sorted out by osteopathy and cutting certain things out of my diet. However, I gave her to my husband to settle and like you Sallyrosie she would settle for him. Now at 1yr she prefers him to settle her and if she wakes at night settles for him far quicker than for me, even though she is still breast fed. She's a real daddies girl and I put it down to the fact that when she wasn't feeding from me she was in his arms.

Yes, sometimes I think there is a problem with the smell of milk. Mmmm. Then other times she won't settle for anyone except my breast. Thankyou everyone for your posts.
