We have been having problems with ds from about 2 weeks old (now 21 weeks), after many trips to gp, lots of sleepless night, and a lot of tears, we were told by gp 99% its refux. Been given gaviscon, think he has started to settle.
He if bf and not on solids. Is there anything as far as feeding i can do to help.

Hi
I think my DS is more of a silent refluxer. I think this was the cause of us stopping breast feeding, as we ended up with real problems latching on - no sooner was he on but he was off again due to wriggling. Eventually just ended up with a hungry and angry baby plus upset mum! Might try the Enfamil AR which some have recommended - but not sure if this helps with heartburn symptons or just helps keep it down so less of the horrendous pukes?

Interested to know how the cranial sessions are goin tho?

Hi
I give gaviscon all the time - plus double (2 sachets) dose if over baby now over 10lbs. Positive effects for us seem to be wearing off.....

splat · 20/09/2006 21:18

Hello again

Does anyone know if SMA staydown or Enfamil AR would be the same as adding gaviscon - or do you add gaviscon to those as well? Ta

Am probably going to get shot and killed now by the MNET Maffia but what is worse a bit of baby rice/porridge or drugs/ medicine?. That was the choice a mum with a baby with reflux had to eventually make.

does baby rice really make a big difference? Not started solids properly yet, but if i am eating an apple or a plum and he tries to get it i let him have a suck.

I think a pattern of late morning is starting, he wakes up at about 8am, come down stairs, have meds, get dressed, feed when he is hungry, back in deb at about 9 for an hour, then seems to start soon after getting up. No amount of naps settle him, just starts again soon after.

Nothing at jab sights, poos? normal it think, a bit gloopy, sick to everything.
Could jabs cause an allergy to somthings i eat? maybe eggs as they are somthing to do with jabs arnt they? My brother had an egg allergy.

Having a reflux baby is awful. If it helps mine didnt get dx til 5 months. She seemed to improve after infant gaviscon and by 7 months things appeared to stop altogether. Now 9 months and she is a lovely happy little soul and I think has grown out of it.I am bf too.Hope your little one settles soon Found that winding in between feeds for a good half hour and tilting cot helped slighty, btw

rodillagrande · 21/09/2006 00:01

Our girl had pretty bad reflux for a couple of months. Our doctor reckoned that if the gaviscon was making a difference but wasn't working all the time then it was time to move on to the next level of medication which was, for us, Ranitidine. I would go back to your doctor and see if you can't try something like that.

littlepiggie · 21/09/2006 20:32

Is there any way i can find out what goes into baby jabs? Rash not as bad today and ds fairly settled, cant help thinking there is somthing acting as a trigger, is the rash worse on bad days? i am going to keep a record i think, back at gp in 2 weeks.

It says a rash can be a side affect, but clears soon after, this comes and goes.
