Virtually no breast left after breastfeeding two babies, Can I do it again?

I enjoyed breastfeeding my two sons for over a year each time, had lots of problems on the way but was well worth pursuing it. But my breast shrunk to almost no breasts! It is quite depressing, and I am pregnant again and keep wondering whether I can breastfeed this little one in few months time or not? Anyone had a similar experience?

I reckon so. Unless you have had other breast trauma then they will still work fine. They aren't for milk storage, just production- that's why any size of breast can successfully feed a baby.

I really think it's a case of 'size doesn't matter' with breastfeeding.

Mine breasts were never huge, and after BF a few times were rather the opposite of full-bodied, but I've never had a problem breastfeeding.

My breasts do seem to perk up a bit during pregnancy & breastfeeding anyway, even if it all goes to pot again afterwards Grin

Unless there were any other issues there is no reason why not. Like justgo says they aren't for milk storage they are for production. So it doesn't matter what size they are.

Thanks, these are all very helpful. I am actually flat now, which is not nice. I had mastitis every two weeks with the last child. Was fed up with it but still carried on. I hope the baby will actually be able to grab the nipple, I can't see that happening. Maybe it is too early (9 weeks pregnant) to know what might happen to my breast?

Once bf is finally over and done with, your breasts should return to (something like) what they were pre-preg....it's fat that gives breasts their size and shape and that doesn't start getting laid down until you get back to a non-pg, non-bf hormonal state...and it can take a little while for it all to build up.

Mine are still huge.

But my god have they gone south!

I'm pregnant again, think after I've bf this one I may start to drag a bit Wink
