Quick survey please: Brand of formula/Nappy quality

Hi,

I have decided to change formula as a result of some 'nappy issues'. I have heard many things about many of the brands so don't know which one to choose. I would be grateful if you could answer the following:

Which brand you use?
What are the nappies like (colour/consistency/smell)?
Is your baby happy & settled on the milk?

I am only interested in the standard brands as DD is content on her current formula (which I can always go back to if other brands don't suit her).

Many thanks,

P.S. I have deliberately omitted the brand for the time being to try and get an unbiassed survey.

I used SMA Gold and never had any problems

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 03/09/2006 08:51

JEssica - SMA GOLD - hideous stuff- was so poorly on it, yet doctors kept telling me it was reflux - strange how symptoms disappeared the minute i switched her to progress milk (nappies were gross too)

Rebecca - Farleys First, been a dream. Normal nappies and so much happier and contented - hasnt been sick at all.

dd1 was on SMA gold, was fine, no nappy problems.

dd2 was on sma gold and was having horrible nappies, very runny, all up her back, several changes a day, moved onto SMA White, problem still there but not as bad. tried different brands of nappies as well, even when she was off formula she still had a runny bum, and using cloth helped cut down the laundry of clothes believe it or not.

dd3, b/f, but we use cloth nappies and explosive poos dont get past the nappy+wrap.

What I have already heard is the following:
Apatamil: HIghly recommended by 'professionals' but green & runny poos?
C&G: green poos & getting runny recently with a change in formulation?
C&G Comfort: V V smelly poos?
SMA: Constipation, unsettled babies, vomiting

I know every baby is different and most posts her and on other forums talk about the 'issues' but talk about a rock and a hard place...

Started on SMA (horrible indigestion and constipated)

Tried Cow & Gate and Aptamil (was happy on both) and soft yellow nappies.

Switched to Aptamil. Normal nappies!

hulababy · 03/09/2006 09:37

I used SMA (Gold at first, then White and finally Progress) with DD and it seemed to suit her fine. Never had any probelms with nappies, etc - all very normal.

kittywits · 03/09/2006 09:37

I have always used Hipp organic and have never had any probs either with funny poo or unhappy babies and i kie the fact that it's organic!

Nonyummymummy · 03/09/2006 09:39

B/F for first 5 weeks exclusively then 1 bottle per day until 10 weeks (was going back to work early so went b/f morning and evening then)- always used Aptamil and had no problems. Nappies were much more explosive whilst b/f than after.

Mix feeding with bf and Cow and Gate Premium. Poos are infrequent, about 3/week, but large and soft. Dd seems happy.

Rookiemum · 04/09/2006 12:42

Normal nappies with Aptamil & he is fine on it

loopybear · 04/09/2006 19:14

I use SMA Gold and nappies are fine. comment on the nappies DD doesn't get sore when I use natures baby care nappies but when I use pampers or huggies she gets a sore bot.

WeaselMum · 04/09/2006 19:23

Hi, I switched to Aptamil after stopping bf and poos were exactly the same as before - soft, yellow, same smell. Just frequency started to change from several small nappies to one or two big ones per day iykwim. ds happy on it.

cleaninglady · 04/09/2006 19:26

dd - sma gold - horrid nappies and constipation

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 04/09/2006 19:27
