milk rash in bf baby?

My dd 5ish weeks is exclusivly bf and has a really awful looking rash on her face, neck and upper chest.
I seem to remember ds2 and dd1 having this too but dd2's still hasn't gone away.HV told me not to worry and that it would go away. She said it caused by hormones in breastmilk.
Anyone heard of this or should i take her to the doctor?

My dd had the same thing and I know, it looks awful! but it did finally clear up totally, leaving no marks, but this seemed to take ages. My HV told me: you should go to the doctor if the rash looks as though it is becoming infected.

my bf baby also had horrible red rash on face and torso - the gp called it infant acne at her 6wk check-up but he never mentioned milk hormones - he was not at all worried. Take dd to gp if you are worried but unless she has a temp or other symptoms its unlikely to be anything serious. DD rash went after a few weeks and she has lovely clear skin now at 4.5m My ds also had rash early on that cleared up so i think it must be common. You should always (in my opinion) get a med opinion when you are not sure just for your own peace of mind.

Thanks for the quick replies

Don't think theres any infection. Will leave it over the weekend and see my HV on Monday with a view to seeing my doctor if need be.
You wouldn't think this was my 4th would you?
Yo never stop worrying no matter how many you have i suppose.

My dd had a horrid rash too. It developed at about 3 weeks and had gone by the time she was about 8 weeks. In the end I must admit I put sudocrem on it. This seemed to do the trick but it might have been going anyway. Possibly just a coincidence.

Hope it clears up soon.
