Breastfeeding and sex drive

Does breastfeeding impact on your sex drive? I've got a 7 month old DS2 who I'm still feeding. He's sleeping through the night and doing well on solids. I had a 'normal' delivery, although very very fast and suffered no damage. My sex drive is non existent I just don't feel in the mood. Ever. With DS1 it returned after about 5 months, which was around the time that I stopped breastfeeding him. I'm wondering if it's breastfeeding that is holding my sex drive back? Feeding DS2 has always been much easier than with DS1, so I haven't even thought about stopping and I don't really want to, but DP is understandably getting frustrated and I am a bit too. I'd like to feel normal again. Did anyone else have this problem and does anyone have any suggestions?

Has your period come back? I found I had zilch sex drive until my periods returned when DS was 8 months, which made sense to me biologically (my body saw no point in having sex if I couldn't get pregnant!) At 8 months, period returned, and sex drive returned. Still feeding at 12 months. Sex not as frequent as pre DS but that's due to being knackered rather than lack of interest!

Oh no, that's a good point - I haven't got my periods back yet. No sign in fact! Here's hoping that will help

I had the same as FurryGiraffe! Everything was a bit uncomfortable and not very satisfying until I had periods again (about a year). Then I was very, very horny, hah. I breastfed till 20 months and we conceived another baby first month I got my coil out - possibly because we were having sex every day :)

Agree with all the PPs! I just got my period back (DS is almost 8mo) and it's only now that I feel in the mood!

Me too - had very low sex drive for a very long time. DS now 10 months and sleeps through occasionally, and I think my period is thinking of making a comeback (or it has, not sure yet...)

In the last month I've been a lot more up for it than previously. I think the increased sleep is helping, too.

I BF, but got my periods back after 3 months (grr) but had no sex drive until stopping BF at one year. It came back pretty much straight after I stopped. I dont think my body can multi task.
