Should I give 1 formula bottle at night to ebf baby?

My DS is 8 weeks and breast fed. I express one bottle which dp gives at night so I get more than 3 hrs sleep in a row. Thing is he takes over 150ml and during the day I struggle to find time to express that much. I feel like the moment he is asleep I have to pump and so never have 2 hands free! Could DP give him a formula bottle instead?
I know breast milk lines the gut with good stuff so will this be washed away by a formula feed? He gets trapped wind and possible reflux (seeing GP Tuesday) so I'm worried formula might upset his tummy further..? I suppose there is also a part of me that feels selfish for wanting to give him formula just so I can get more sleep.
Advice welcome!

There is a risk that formula might upset his tummy (but it's not a guarantee that it will). Also, there is no actual benefit to your baby of having the formula, only increased risk of various issues.

However, having said that, sleep deprivation hits people differently and if you are in need of sleep then that may override the potential risks of introducing formula. Only you can decide that, and no one else. If you decide to give some formula, don't waste any mental energy feeling guilty, if that's the decision you go for.

We've done this with both of our DC from 5 wks onwards. I would bf, with the exception of a formula dreamfeed around 11pm which my DH would do. Meant that I could get an early night, & found it worked well for us.

Willsing how much formula did you give at 8 weeks?

It sounds like you're giving him a big bottle of breastmilk tbh - does he really need that much? Babies tend to down a bottle and take more than they need to.

My 11 week old has an occasional 11pm bottle of formula, usually 100ml.

I think it was about 100-120 mls

We have also done exactly this with both DSs. DS2 is 14 weeks and taking a formula feed around 11pm (120 ml ish but this is less than the tin says he 'should' be taking at this age). I go to bed around 9.30pm which means I can get around 6/7 hours straight before he wakes for his night feed. This has totally saved my sanity and allowed me to function, and enjoy Breastfeeding him the rest of the time (this is why I don't feel guilty about it). I am sorry I am not sure about the reflux. Congratulations and good luck!
