Stupid question- do you leak everywhere when you go swimming whilst lactating?

I know it probably sounds like a silly question but I have really enjoyed swimming through my pregnancy and I would really like to continue after the baby is born. I just have visions of big milky patches on my swimming cossie as it is not possible to wear breast pads. Any advice?

I bought myself a swimming costume and a bikini with padded bits at the top so if I did leak between changing and getting immersed in water it would have the padding to go through before it showed at the front. (What with milk engorgement and the padding I did look a bit like I had just had a boob job but it distracted the eye away from the saggy tum and bumpy thighs!) I got mine at George in Asda for a tenner so it doesn't matter if I have to throw it away once I've stopped feeding

I've never had an issue, and I leak a lot normally

I started swimming again once ds was about 7 weeks old and leaked quite a bit for a while (still do occasionally and ds is now 9 mo!), but a good tip is to have a shower before you get into the pool - then no one knows whether you've leaked or not!

One other thing - take a spare set of breast pads with you when you go. One time I managed to tip my clean ones straight into a puddle when I was changing so I always keep a spare set in my bag now.
