Hi - we're taking a flight in early October and will have a 6 month baby with us who is on formula. I want to know what is and is not acceptable to the airports at the moment, especially at Gatwick.
Did you premix your bottles - if so how did you store them? Did you buy sealed cartons of formula to use and if so were you made to open them all to taste? Did you take water in bottles and powder in a container measured out?
Any other suggestions would be most welcome.
Also comments about jars of baby food too - did you have to open them to taste them too? I'm not so concerned about the baby food but I am about the milk going out of time to be used safely.

Many thanks

I would just take the powder on board and get the flightattendants to provide you with boiled water on the plane

Hi there, when we travelled through Gatwick a couple of weeks ago, we were allowed to bring through one made up milk which one of us had to taste.

We were also allowed to bring through powder, but again had to taste. We weren't allowed to bring through our sterilised water in the milk bottles but got this refilled at the lounge, or if not they said Garfunkels would do it.

If any of this has changed, there is a Boots through the check in, but they only had Cow & Gate formula, although they may have stocked up on different brands by now.

I think this will all hold true unless you are going to USA in which case I think regulations are much stricter.

I don't know about baby food sorry, but they did have a big selection of jars in Boots once through check in.

Enjoy your trip

Thanks for these - I was thinking maybe the powder then getting the water through security. You have been a great help.
