Buscopan whilst breast feeding? Conflicting advice...

Hi sorry to be bothersome.

I have been prescribed buscopan for IBS symptoms.

The community doctor said that in her book it says that it's OK as only small amounts go into breastmilk.

However, on the leaflet it says not to take whilst breastfeeding.

Will this affect 1 year old DD?

Thank you. :)

I took it when breastfeeding, was told it was fine.

Was that recently normal?

I hope it's OK as this IBS is bloody sore.

Plus I only breastfeed a few times a day, so it isn't constant.

Have a look here www.breastfeedingnetwork.org.uk/contact-us.html

I also took it while breastfeeding, GP is very BF-friendly and looked it up for me. There's some suggestion it could impact supply but it had no effect on mine.

Most patient information leaflets say you can't take the drug in question when BF unless it's something like paracetamol.

And agree, if you're concerned check with the BFN.
