Which formula did your breasted baby take to?

Hi
My 19 week old baby has so far been EBF with some expressed feeds from 4weeks, so takes a bottle well. I tried him with some formula for the first time the other day and after drinking 1oz he decided he didn't like it. It was ready made aptimil first milk. I intend to bf til we start weaning but then would like to move onto ff. I feel like I need to be prepared for this transition to happen smoothly and slowly. Any experience of which formulas seem to go down best would be gratefully received Smile

Dd1 sma gold

Dd2 cow and gate but only the powder, after a while she wouldnt touch the cartons even though she had to start with.

Tbh they just took what I gave them and were fine.

I had a bit of a struggle getting both of mine to take formula, but had most success with Cow & Gate (ready made or powder)

DD (8mo) seems fine with SMALL Gold first infant formula. She still prefers the boob, but we are getting there!

PiPoPiddlyPo · 27/04/2014 20:19

DD refused all formula and still doesn't like cow milk many years later.

DS will drink anything!

C&G powdered milk formula. But she also turned her nose up. So gave expressed BM with a gradually increasing proportion of formula until it was all formula.

Aptimil - the ready made stuff at first. Though randomly it had to be ice cold out of the fridge!

Hipp organic.

HugoTheHippo · 27/04/2014 21:24

Er... SMA, not SMALL. Pesky autocorrect.

Chasinglemons · 27/04/2014 21:30

Aptamil - ready made to start with but powder seemed to suit her better stomach-wise - but never cold! Always had to be nice and warm. Smile

The bottle was more of an issue than the contents tbh as she would refuse anything including EBM in some of those we tried

Icedfinger · 27/04/2014 21:44

Hipp organic

I am in the process of transferring DD onto Aptimil. I initially got her used to a bottle of EBM at the same time each day for a week and then started mixing formula with some EBM (1/4 formula to start with and then increasing the amount of formula in the bottle over a period of two weeks). She has taken to this quite well but I have found she is fussy about temperature ( she likes it very warm)
