I've just told off Waitrose Marlborough for promoting first baby milk!

They had big red tickets saying "REDUCED!" on the Cow & Gate Organic 1st milk. I told the manager that it was illegal - he looked panicked and said he thought it was OK because they were just running down stocks or something. I said that it was illegal to do it for any reason, and he scurried off to look into it. He was very nice and clearly concerned to do the right thing- he is going to phone me to tell me what he's going to do about it!

I resisted buying any even though it is the one I use and it was £2 off (polishes halo)

Pardon my ignorance, but why is it illegal?

CountessDracula · 24/08/2006 12:56

Well done PPH

Very responsible

SoupDragon · 24/08/2006 12:57

You're not allower to advertise or promote infant milks (up to 6 months old) for any reason.

Well done QPH. you can't even be accused of being a rabid breastfeeder either

milward · 24/08/2006 12:57

can't promote it

seb1 · 24/08/2006 13:04

You should have bought it all apart from a few tins, put your shopping in the car, then complained, the supermarket wouldn't have missed the profit, they would learn their lesson and you buying most of it would have removed temptation from others and saved you money. A win-win-win result

oliveoil · 24/08/2006 13:20

I would have bought it and spent the saving on chocolate.

QueenPeaHead · 24/08/2006 14:09

ha ha seb

actually I didn't buy it because I have a few left in the larder and plan on moving swiftly onto cows milk in 6 weeks or so.

he phoned back and said "you were right, we are sorry, thanks very much for pointing it out"

what a nice man
john lewis partnership continues to give me a warm fuzzy feeling
