DD is 6 months, EBF. Never had any real problems establishing bf, just some pain/nearly blisters for the first few days, then a bit of burning pain at the skin surface around 4-5 weeks, and oversupply, but basically fine. DD is thriving etc.
HOWEVER I've now all of a sudden got the skin surface pain back in one nipple, and I want to know what it is and if it'll go again!
I think it is dry skin, but not sure if that's cause or symptom iyswim. I think it might come when dd chomps lots with her gums while feeding, but I'm not sure. She's has bottom teeth for a month so might get top teeth soon and I'm not sure I could cope with extra pain.
It looks like an area of red skin round the base of the nipple, just in the 10-11 o clock position as you face me, on theright breast. So corresponds to her top gum/lip as we normally feed lying down.
Any clues what this is???

bump, I'm really in agony when DD feeds and for a quite after (and pain stays and flickers the rest of the time, especially if the nipple is touched) and I need help!
I saw the doctor way back when I had this before, on both nipples and all the way around the base, and she thought it probably wasn't thrush and looked like dry skin.

I've heard a few people complaining of this coinciding with teeth and weaning. My ds has no teeth yet but did get more chompy when we started solids. The worst passed in a few weeks but I'd say it's worth going back to your local baby cafe if you have one.

Good to hear I'm not alone Sunflower, and i was thinking about going to the bf cafe and making them look at my nipple and diagnose me!
