Help! Have stopped BFing and now have two rocks on my chest.

I have BF'd my DC for 14 months and had cut it down to a bedtime and early morning feed.

Have decided to stop entirely for various reasons and thought 'cold turkey' would be ok as I had already dropped the feeds down.

DC has been ok with this but my breasts are now like rocks! It has been 48 hours since the last feed. They aren't sore unless they are touched and then they are very tender.

Will they go down on their own or am I supposed to be doing something?

Hi - also currently drying up (though fortunately my left side had pretty much dried up already so only one rock) - ibruprofen reduces the swelling and also I've taken Sudofed up to four times a day and half teaspoon of dried sage twice a day - the sage def works as had taken it a few days last week in preparation. Hang in there. I gave up on Fri pm - Tues am all fine. Not easy is it. Hope your DC doing ok. My DD has been so good - she's older so could understand 'broken', 'gone' and that we were both sad...today she's tired and really finding it hard Hmm xx

I went cold turkey with 27 month old DS about 3 weeks ago. We were down to two feeds too. I didn't get engorged but I did have several hard lumps.

Lots of massage in a hot shower and anti inflammatories did the trick. I was told it was ok to express. I was also recommended cold cabbage leaves tucked into my bra but they didn't seem to work for me.

Thank you, glad I'm not doing something wrong!

This is my second baby but when I weaned DC1 I was already pregnant with DC2 so I think my supply had dried up already, I didn't get engorged last time anyway.

Well hopefully it won't be much longer until it settles now (I should make the most of my last few days with a full bust before my A cups return Grin )
