Tell me nice things about breastfeeding a toddler?

I'm bf my 4 month old and planning to continue as long as he likes and I just wanted to hear some nice things because I can't wait :)

You know you have a breastfed toddler/preschooler when they say, "look mummy, that baby is having mama milks" stopping and pointing at a lady bfing on a train recently. Luckily the lady was very amused and found it hilarious!

When you are told that your breastmilk tastes like "liquid jewels".

"Dankoo. Nice mi'k."

The fact that it's obviously special and important to them.

Yoou don't choose to BF a toddler, they choose to continue feeeding.

It's an art to latch on with teeth and without a babies flat nose. A toddler needs to like breast milk and mummy cuddles enough to bother learning.

Also, how much easier it is than feeding a tiny - not feeding nearly so frequently, can miss a feed (or several) without it really mattering (by the time DS1 was 19 months or so I regularly missed his bedtime feed and by the time he was 2 I could go away overnight/for a weekend/longer once I had a pump).

When she asks for 'mummy milk' is lovely... when she wants milky cuddles... when she says 'bobbie out' and that daddy doesn't have boobies

When she still falls asleep on you with a satisfied milky face...

When they are ill and off their food and don't get dehydrated because they are getting your milk.

when you have to stay with them 3 days in hospital and you get meals free because you are still breastfeeding (of course I would rather not have been in the hospital... but she coped and didn't need fluids)

when she picks the side and then asks for the 'other side'

so much...

How it can calm them down from any upset, bump or scare with little time or effort. How it gets them off to sleep soundly and quickly. How they will cuddle up to you and all you can feel is a lovely rush of warmth and love as they feed. The words they use to ask for and thank you for milk. How it no longer takes ages to feed (comparing to my 2 week old that is!) and it no longer has to be all night. How you can negotiate about when, where and how much so that the relationship is a two way thing.

Yes, great when they are ill or tired.

DD2 said she'd give up when she started school, she didn't she decided weekends holidays didn't count.

From as soon as they learn to talk you end up with lots of little shared jokes. Underwrired bras got cursed as they have to be moved carefully not shoved out the way. Sometimes, I'd put on a dress and DD would give me a look. She knew that meant no milk util bed time.

Despite what people say BFing doesn't keep them babies, it's just something else they learn to do in a more mature way.

Like all stages of growing up, that's just special to share.

Bf a toddler is awesome.

"Do you want milk?"
Half way through sometimes she unlatches and says "mama".

(she is 18 months)

I only do it once a day so it's no hassle whatsoever, and I can go away overnight or go out or do whatever I please, but it's always a magic option for a tantrum/illnesss.

I am pregnant again and my boobs aren't bigger or sore this time round, i think this must be the feeding :)

Yesterday when we got home from the nursery while I was getting a glass of water my 2yo took everything off the sofa, put my cushion in place and was holding the cushion she lies on waiting for me to sit down for mummy milk

awwwww
