Is the formal top up making my baby gassy?

I had a few problems with breastfeeding when my 5-week-old was born. They are mostly resolved now, and I breastfeed most of the time, but he gets one bottle of formula still in the evenings.

Lately, he's been getting a little uncomfortable after having it. He gets quite gassy and struggles and cries as he farts. Does this have anything to do with the formula? My husband thinks it does.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Anyone else got experiences of mixed feeding?

Ideally, I'd express and that'd be his evening bottle
top up - but, as he's 5 weeks, he feeds for most of the day so don't
want to spend non-feeding time expressing!

I meant formula not formal! Stupid autocorrect!

Maybe drop the bottle for a while and see if the issue resolves?

My DD can be the same with a top up bottle! I'm thinking of trying a different milk to see if it has the same effect. She currently has one bottle of Aptimal and I'm going to try Cow & Gate Comfort.

Let me know how that goes, fluffandnonsense! I also use Aptimal.

I believe the best time to express a bottle is in the morning, but if yo would rather not worry about bottles at all having a few evenings of breastfeeding where he feeds as much as he likes should help build supply up meaning bottles won't be needed?
