The title says it all!

Dd2 is 26 weeks today and is has been exc bf - and I am sooooo happy that I have done it.

I had such hang-ups after it all went pear shaped with dd1 - who was basically mixed fed from the start, lost weight and then ff from 10 weeks.

Thanks to all mners who have helped with their advice to my pleading postings etc - you have been such stars. Also a big TA to my local La Leche Leader - who did home visits and had a personal crusade that I would be successful this time.

I just wanted to post to let others know that you can be successful 2nd time around.

Dd2 was born after an emergency c-section, I lost loads of blood and had to have a transfusion and dd1 was only 16 months.

Yay to the power of Mumsnet - I just can't thank you enough.

Now when am I going to stop?

Congratulations!!
Mumsnet has helped me in much the same way, giving me the confidence to carry on whe things got tough. DS2 is our 4th baby and I didn't manage passed 12 weeks with the other 3 (he is only 16wks so a long way to go yet)

Well done you! now make sure you have some vino tonight.

throckenholt · 10/08/2006 13:00

well done you !

hotmama · 10/08/2006 13:56

I did have a nightmare at the beggining - again!

I have flat nipples so used nipple shields/ breast shells and copious amounts of Laninsoh.

Glad to report that it has now fallen into place - I get out my norks in public and latch dd2 on without even looking!

Can't believe that bf is such a joy!

Congratulations and from a selfish point of view that post makes me feel more hopeful that after a disaster BFing dd perhaps I'll succeed with my next one.

LaDiDaDi · 10/08/2006 14:00

oh well done! I'm sooo jealous but really happy for you too . xx

mawbroon · 10/08/2006 14:02

Well done hotmama. It's such a huge achievement and I know I felt really proud when I did it with ds.

Congratulations hotmama Well done

hotmama · 10/08/2006 14:18

Liath - this is one of the main reason why I wanted to post - to give hope to mners where it went pear-shaped first time around. I was so bloody determined to crack it.

peaches27 · 10/08/2006 14:19

Well done. It is possible! I wish I had persevered longer.

hotmama · 10/08/2006 20:24

Also, I just ignored the growth charts - unlike last time.

Dd2 was born weighing 9lb (91st centile) and is 15.7lb when weighed today - just over the 25th centile - is she happy yes - does she pooh/wee enough yes - so I am trusting my instincts not a piece of paper.

CorrieDale · 10/08/2006 20:46

Congrats! And brilliant advice re: growth charts. A real source of stress IMHO. So... what's going to be DD2's first solid food then?

hotmama · 11/08/2006 08:45

Think I'm going to try to go down the BLW route wiith dd2. So first food will probably be a steamed chip-shaped carrot as opposed to a puree one!

Congratulations Hotmama!
I think you should have a party and feed your guests cake, then halfway through let on that the cake has been made with EBM.

DollyP · 11/08/2006 19:42

Well done hotmama, I'm thrilled for you! Keep it up (if you want to, of course )
