Did your dc ever have nursing strikes? If so how long did they last, and how did you persuade them to feed again?

11mo dd has not fed since Tuesday, and flatly refuses if I offer it to her. Is this the end? Don't know what to do

But you have competition, don't you? I saw AK's bitontheside around as well. Or is that you in less committed mode?

I had this situation about 5 months back and had some really helpful advice from people on Mumsnet. I don't know how to link to threads but perhaps you could do a search for my name. The responses included lots of helpful links to websites and research. Best of luck.

Hi - My DD did this for 48 hrs when about 8 months old. No idea why. I tried feeding in the bath and having lots of skin to skin.

In the end I cuddled her to sleep and then latched her on when she was asleep. She fed well and returned to normal. I fed her until she was 16 months in the end

Hi there. I can't believe the coincidence!! I've been sitting here at the comp for ages trying to find info about breastfeeding "strikes". I haven't been on mumsnet for months and months. My ds is also 11 months and has decided to strike. He's gone from being an avid breastfeeder one day to not wanting a bean of it the next. I've been a bit of a mess today. Had every intention of keeping at it for the long haul. Going to have a look at all the links now. Good luck, hang in there. 11 months!!!! - we've done GREAT!!

My daughter refused to eat for several days when she was 8 weeks old. I spoke to my midwife and she was diagnosed with reflux and prescribed gaviscon for babies. She started feeding again and is now a healthy happy 2 year old

My son (LD) refused to feed for a few days when he was about 5 months old. It looked to me like it was painful for him but in hindsight he was just probably out of sorts. You have probably tried most things by now but I would express and bottle feed the milk. At least you know how much they get, they won't get dehydrated and you won't loose your supply. LD is now eleven months and still has four feeds per day but always has a bottle or cup when I am away. Good luck.

This happened to me once or twice. Turned out she had thrush. A bit of antifungal from the chemist on the tongue and all was well within about 12 hours
