Its upto you really. My dd1 is 3 and still has a bottle morning and night.ds2 was still having milk in a bottle at 4 yrs old.I dont see the problem with it if they enjoy it.As long as its not juice its fine imho.

8 months ditched bottles as dd could use cups fine. Definitely up to you but i have a kind of phobia about older children using bottles...

bottles v bad for the teeth. move them to cups as soon as they can manage it.

Lemmingswife · 06/08/2006 20:35

My two were a year old when I stopped the bottles.

My ds was off bottles by 12 months.

my dd was around 13/14 months when we stopped bottles. I personally dont like seeing toddlers with bottles when they are old enough to use some sort of cup.

DD had her last bottles (onne a day at breakfast) around 16 months. However, this was not with a teat, but with a soft spout (with non-spill valve removed). This was for milk only and it was the only way she would drink milk (formula only; she still doesn't drink cow's milk). We removed the teats and replaced them with spouts ata round 10-11 months IIRR.

She used a Doidy cup for all other drinks at other times of the day.

12 months.

I know a child who still has a bottle of milk in the evening for comfort who is five!!!!!

My dd1 is 22 months and has a bottle of milk with a teat first and last thing. She will happily use a sippy cup for water during the day - but refuses to have her milk in one.

Any tips for getting her to stop using a teat will be gratefully received.

My DS still had a bottle at 3.5 - he went to stay with a friend overnight - her DS is 18 months older - so he was using a cup - I'Forgot' to pack my DS's bottle so he had to use a cup like his friend - who was a big boy! If you want to stop the bottles - try sending them to Grandma's overnight and forget to pack the bottle - or if you have been away - forget to pack it to bring it home! My DD is 2.10 and stopped using a bottle by her own choice at 18months as she wanted a cup like her big brother!

Mine is 2.2 and still has bottle of milk at bedtime and when he wakes up in the morning. Drinks out of a cup with or withput spout therest of the time. Tried briefly (not very hard admittedly) to change to acup but got a "No, want bottle!" response. Thing is bedtime routine works so well I am scared to change it. Still bath, jamas, story, turn off light and have cuddle on the rocking chair with his bottle then into cot, night night kiss and sleep am I mad?! or will he just give up bottle of his own accord.

I too hate seeing toddlers running round with bottles and never quite meant to get to this stage
