Could rash be reaction to breast milk ?

My baby was born with beautiful clear skin but from last week - at around 2 weeks old - his face has broken out in pimples. These are mostly over his nose and cheeks right down his face onto his neck. They seem to inflame and go down throughout the day.
Could they be a reaction to breast milk? I haven't made any changes to my diet. It is upsetting to think I may be causing this condition.
My HV is seeing us next week so will chat to her about it then but I wondered if anyone had experience something similar with their LO?

My baby had this when she was very little - hv said it was normal and just due to the hormones in breast milk and would clear up - and it did! Obviously get it checked if you are worried or for reassurance but I think its fairly common, and I am sure your baby will have their peachy skin back soon! Smile

Thank you islingtongirl. I know that I must be hormonal as I've had those awful night sweats, which I didn't get at all with my other LO.
I feel a bit deflated as I thought the breastfeeding was going well. I couldn't manage to breastfeed first time around and my other DS didn't have any skin problems.
Weirdly the redness seems to go down while he feeds or sleeps and is more prevalent when he cries etc.
I will check with my HV on Tuesday but glad you don't think its down to diet as that could be hard to identify the culprit.
Hopefully it goes away as quickly as it came as has been the only thing that made me consider giving up bf, which I am otherwise dead set on doing exclusively for the first six months.
No one told me about hormones in breast milk! Thank you for the info!

It's completely normal- lots of babies have it and it's only of any concern if it gets infected. People would recoil in horror when they looked in my DS's pram for a few weeks. It's called milia.

Baby acne - it's totally normal and clears up. I believe it's hormonal.

It's completely and utterly normal. Both of mine had it. You'll find it looks worse when they're hot or cross. Calms down when they are calm. It is NOT a problem with breastfeeding and it will resolve on its own.

Don't put anything on it. Wash with water only and pat dry. Very, very rarely it can get infected and you get a simple hydrocortisone prescribed to treat it but otherwise, it's normal and will pass. Often called 'baby acne'!

So is the overall opinion that it's not my hormones affecting breast milk but more my LO's skin adapting to life outside the womb. Because I didn't experience the last time and I formula fed (DS was prem) I think this was nagging at me

DD had something similar at about two to three weeks old - it cleared up pretty quickly. I wouldn't worry too much unless it persists.
