DS is 16 weeks old and I've had one period about 5/6 weeks ago, now I know that if your bfeeding they might not come back but surely if I had one thats it their back?? Have been feeling for days like it will come with tummy pains etc but that has also been a sign that i'm pg in the past. AM taking the mini pill but also warfarin so it would be a big disater to be pregnant.

only way to know is to take a test i am afraid. can i ask why you are on warfarin?

popsycal · 31/07/2006 19:47

test is the only way
but fwiw I have a 17 month old and havent had a period yet

I think it is quite common for periods to be irregular once they are back after childbirth, esp if you are BF. It may take a short while to establish a proper pattern. In addition, if you had a 28 day cycle before DS, you might still get a longer one afterwards.

If doing a test would set your mind at rest then this may be a good idea. it could be just your body settling down again which has caused the delay. Good luck and HTH.

ahh don't want to pay £10 for a test . I'm on warfarin because I got a DVT when pg with DS. I couldn't belive it really no history and it was my 4th pg (5th if you include the m/c). Warfarin causes huge problems and disfigurements in early pregnancy.

I didn't have a period until about 11mths after birth for my children -- exclusively bf. It is a regualr 28 days, while not pg. But did take some time to settle. The more children, the more "eratic" it was !

Your DR might do a test for you if concerned.

Catilla · 31/07/2006 20:33

I didn't have one while on the mini pill, even after stopping feeding. Only when I went back on the combined pill did they return - and of course then every 28 days under control.

I remember panicking when ds2 was about 4mths old. My periods had started from when he was about 6 weeks old (despite bf'ing). At 4mths I missed one and was seriously worried that I might be pg. I wasn't pg at all. I think it was just that he was feeding more because of the 4mth growth spurt and that messed up my usual cycle.

phew phew phew just did a test and its negative am shaking so much. Apart from any medical reason I really don't need a 5th child!!!

i bf my 2nd dd till she was 2 years and didn't get a period till she was 16mths old.
it's quite normal for your perionds to be irregular or not at all.

glad all was okay though xx

I still have no periods and I am bfing an 18mth old.
I am on micronor mini pill and my doctor says this can also stop periods.

I know you have done a test now, but in future there is no need to pay £10. Whenever I feel the need to check I am not pregnant I buy a twin pack from Poundland! They are very good!
