Stopped bfing after 3 years. Hormones all over the place. Is it connected?

DD is nearly 3. I've stopped bfing her in the past month. For the past year or so it was only ever one feed and night to get her off to sleep.

I have been really suffering with the worst PMT and hormones and am wondering if this is just normal as I've stopped bfing. I have always suffered with my hormones when others don't seem to (it took months of awful headaches etc after coming off of the pill before I got back to normality).

Anyone else experienced this? Period not come yet so wondering if that's going to be more horific than normal too. And if it's a one off month or if I might get this delight for a few months for it to settle down? Oh joy Hmm

FWIW, before you say anything, I'm not pg!

(Another bargain-threader here)

Wow, well done for feeding that long!

I thought I had this after I stopped with DC2. Went to the GP who took me off the pill I was taking and that seemed to do the trick. She was a specialist in women's ishoos and said she had never heard of the bf/depression thing before, although I had read it on here and it made sense to me.

Can you see your GP?

Or how about some retail therapy? Wink

I stopped feeding after three years

Periods were no heavier although my cycle has been a bit up and down

Felt fine - sobbed like a baby (!) when I did myasthenia ever feed

Congrats on a wonderful milestone and feeding for so long

Apols for typos

Last ever feed!

Thanks ladies. AF has finally properly come so my hormones are far better than yesterday, which was just a nightmare day. I should have made it clear I've had AF back since DD was about 8 months old, but it's the PMT/hormones which have suddenly gone crazy since stopping bfing.

Very interesting link thanks. I don't think I've experienced depression but definitely a big increase in my anxiety, which I found very hard to deal with, but if I put it down to my body getting used to stopping bfing then it's easier to mentally deal with that.

I gave up at a year, and had low energy. So low after six weeks i went to dr and was tested fir loads of things. Only thing they found was mega vit d deficiency. They gave me a couple of huge doses. Was much better about a month later. I suspect it was vit d plus hormone swings. Oh, i also got terribleacne which i get with every hormone swing. Am dreading giving up again but also longing to get pregnancy and bf hormones out of my system for good.

No one i have spoken to has heard of it either but i am convinced it exists, is just off the radar of medics because of when it happens. And most mothers of children under three are exhausted anyway, so it gets assigned to that.

That's interesting peppa . I remember when I came off the pill my gp hadn't seemed to have heard of people reacting to that like I did either so you're probably right about it going under the radar. Today I am absolutely shattered. I really should force myself to exercise but I can barely sit up!
