I don't know about the 'Gold' bit but I'ver certainly used Dakatarin for thrush. It's more or less the same as Canesten isn't it?

Poor popsy. I'm sorry this is still going on.

popsycal · 27/07/2006 20:50

I would go for the bf counsellor first. They have a better specific knowlege and they really don't mind being phoned up. That's why they are bf counsellors.

Good luck popsy.

I use daktarin oral gel and for baby's mouth too. If you use the cream would you have to wash it off before feeding??
I saw a doc today who actually believed in breast thrush !!

I have the daktarin cream for my nipples (gel for DS2's mouth), and was advised to wash it off before bfing due for taste reasons. The leaflet says it would be safe to ingest it orally anyway.

popsycal · 28/07/2006 15:46

breastfeeding counsellor said fine not to wash off as long as about 30 mins after applying

Only reason leaflet doesn't mention fungi on breast because to be sold 'over the counter' it isn;t licensed for that indication. Will be fine though as identical to prescription stuff.
