Course you can! I've lost 4st on WW since the birth of my second child and have been BF since day 1.

Yes, but losing more than 1lb a week could affect your supply.

lilyaldrin · 07/01/2014 20:57

I've not heard that before Fruminous?

Me neither, was loosing 3-4lbs a week at one point and I had tons of that shit!

I'm pretty certain it's not true that losing more than 1lb a week can affect your supply. Although there is some evidence to say losing weight too fast can cause toxins to be released into the milk, although its not an absolute.

I started doing Slimming World when DS was 5 weeks old and have lost 19lb in 9 weeks (although 16 1/2 of that was in the first 6 weeks, I've slowed down a bit over Christmas, although still kept losing). DS has climbed almost 2 centime lines in that time, going from the 50th to just below the 91st, so he certainly hasn't been affected negatively.

I can't loose weight at all whilst breastfeeding :-/ mines stuck lol

FrumiousBandersnatch · 07/01/2014 23:31

Apologies - having had a look around I've obviously swallowed an old wives' tale. This page on kellymom has a good summary: kellymom.com/nutrition/mothers-diet/mom-weightloss/

Well, my weight dropped to x level and then stayed there no matter what I did. It was like this for pretty much three years. DS has suddenly all but self weaned, only wanting about three feeds a week, and I've dropped a couple of kilos without doing a thing. I've also lost weight over Christmas despite eating and drinking well.

I think all people are different and for some it will be easy to lose weight, for others less so, all depending on how your body behaves.

I'm like baroness , I actually lost a stone after the first 6 months if breastfeeding I them gained half back and have been stuck there since , never gone up never gone down ? Dd is now 17 months

I'm struggling with a sweet tooth. Never had one before, but toward end of pg and now I'm bf, I crave cake and biscuits. I'm wandering if that is actually normal, given how sweet (and delicious!) breast milk is.

blackteaplease · 08/01/2014 18:28

Yep. I have lost 2 stone in the last year through calorie counting on myfitnesspal and am still breastfeeding ds at 15 months.
