23 week old seems insatiable, another growth spurt?

DD2 has started feeding every hour during the day and every 2 hours at night. I'm bloody knackered with it.

She is EBF. Her sleep had already gone to hell at the 16 week mark so used to the nighttime feeding, but she had been going 3 hours between feeds during the day. The last two days have been hard going. Could this also be connected to her starting to roll about and raising her head off the ground when on her back?

She's not sitting up independently so I'm not sure she is ready for weaning - not that I suspect that would solve her hunger.

Anyone else suffering this?

Hi soup
Didn't want to ignore! My dd is 16 weeks and brewing up to the same...previously did 6 or 7 hours at night, now 2 at best. Daytime either is uninterested or ravenous! Don't know the answer...I was thinking development reasons but maybe for you it's 6 mth growth spurt (is there one?)

soupmaker · 08/01/2014 18:44

Hi Cake. It's a bugger when you know it's coming, this caught me a bit by surprise. She's still ravenous today. Hope it calms down a bit. Last night we did a 5 hour stretch - hurrah. Let's hope for another good night. These babies are always one step ahead!

Hi soup:)
Yep I've had a week of it too :) just keep repeating. .. This to shall pass.
I tried at sippy cup of formula just to get a bit of a break, shet guzzled 4oz then wanted boob. Formula also made her sick and unsettled so won't be trying that again in a hurry.
Today she's been back to a more manageable boob monster.

Enjoy the feet up time and extra calories. :)

Hello Rosie. Big wave. We crossed each other on threads while expecting and on the feeding threads in the early days I think.

Baby soup refusing a bottle with anything in it. So as you say nothing to do but feet up and let her guzzle.

I hear ya. My dd is 21 weeks and savage. Feeding every hour or two at night, yet she can go 4 hours in the day. She's slept for 4 hours at night once, at 8 weeks. We cosleep but I really want to stop.

Good news re the 5 hour stretch soup Smile

Re bottles mine is refuser too (and dummies) however have had some success with some Lansinoh Momma rocking bottles - google them - I bought one from amazon but then found them for £2 in tk maxx baby clearance section! She seems to be able to suck the teat whereas others she doesn't have a clue or gets the rage.

soupmaker · 09/01/2014 13:31

Thanks Cake. Hadn't heard of these bottles. Will give them a go. Always good to find stuff in TK Maxx. My DD2 refuses a dummy too but has all the signs of being a thumb sucker like her big sister Confused.

Well I say some success...I've deemed 1oz taken to be some success, with no crying..maybe I'm getting ahead of myself! But defo have a look in tk maxx I was surprised how much feeding stuff etc they had in there. They had the mam bottles as well, two pack for £5!
A thumb sucker here too Smile

Cakeismymaster · 09/01/2014 15:17

Re sippy cups - which type are you using ladies?

soupmaker · 09/01/2014 17:01

1oz would be a complete result here! DD2 got a MAM sippy cup in her stocking! I have two Tommie Tippee ones that DD1 used. If the bottle doesn't work I'm going to do cup once DD2 is 6 months.

We're using a tippy tomy and a real cheapy from the £1 shop (i liked the pictures on the cup :) far more successfulthan bbottles were.

Cakeismymaster · 09/01/2014 18:42

Great thanks both - I got a tommee tippee basic flip spout one and a nuk learner soft spout one with handles - sort of a hybrid cup/bottle. Am going to keep on with this momma bottle I've discovered and will start the cups at 6m.
