My dd2 is 24 weeks and I have gradually gone from ebf to the bottle, dropping a feed at a time the way you are supposed to. The last two weeks we have only been feeding for the first morning feed, the rest bottle, and my breasts have gone just about back to normal, as if I'm not feeding at all, but still producing milk in the morning. We dropped the morning feed three days ago, and everything seemed fine ( I did the same with dd1). Only thing is, I'm feeling a bit tender on on the left side, after wearing a tight vest yesterday. I suspect a blocked duct, but I'm loathe to express as it will undo all the gradual work I've done, plus when I've had this in the past, the most effective remedy is to let my baby sort it out, as expressing sometimes makes it worse.
Should I express? Or hand express? Or let baby feed? I just don't want to stimulate my supply any more than I have to, now that we've wound it down. Is there anything else I can do - is nothing an option, or am I looking at mastitis as a result?
